Barcelona sporting director Deco has thrown his full support behind rising star Lamine Yamal, calling the club the perfect home for the teenage talent.
Speaking confidently about Yamal’s future, Deco praised the youngster’s deep ties to the club and the opportunity ahead for him and his peers to create a legacy.
“A player has to be happy at his club, but I can’t imagine a better place for Lamine. The boy grew up here, he’s a local. This generation of players has a chance to make history. If I were in his place, I’d want to be here, be part of this.
“I don’t see any problems, especially since he’s under contract [until 2026]. [An extension] will happen eventually,” Deco said.
As the 17-year-old winger continues to impress, the club appears calm about his future, trusting in his connection to Barcelona and his growing role.
Spanish great David Villa echoed the sentiment, urging calm and calling Yamal’s future “brutal”, a nod to the excitement surrounding his potential.
