Danny Welbeck signs new Brighton deal to 2027

Brighton & Hove Albion have confirmed that experienced striker Danny Welbeck will stay at the club for another season after the 35-year-old activated a one-year extension in his contract, keeping him at the Amex Stadium until the summer of 2027.

The former Manchester United, Arsenal, and England forward, who arrived on a free transfer in 2020, has rebuilt his career on the south coast and become a trusted figure in the dressing room.

Across six Premier League campaigns with Brighton, Welbeck has scored 43 goals and supplied 16 assists in 166 appearances, underlining his value as a consistent and reliable option in attack.

The club sees his renewed deal as recognition not only of his on-pitch output but also of his professionalism and influence on younger forwards. Now approaching his 36th birthday in November, he remains a key part of Fabian Hurzeler’s plans as Brighton push for European qualification.

Welbeck’s extension also supports Brighton’s strategy of blending seasoned professionals with emerging talent, giving stability to their forward line amid constant transfer speculation. By keeping one of their most experienced attackers, the Seagulls ensure continuity, leadership and depth for another important season.
