Danny Jordaan was elected as the new president of the South African Football Federation (SAFA) with 162 votes, defeating his challenger Mandla Mazibuko who received 88 votes. Jordaan, the former president of the Organizing Committee for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and current FIFA advisor for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, succeeded Kirsten Nemantadani.
Jordaan, also recently appointed as an advisor to the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will lead a team of 13 office bearers, including vice-presidents Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana, Lucas Nhlapo, Elvis Shishana, and Dr. Irvin Khoza. The newly elected officials will work towards the development and progress of South African football.
