Patrick Dorgu says he is pleased to have opened his Manchester United account during their 4-1 preseason victory over Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday.
The Danish international, who has Nigerian heritage, scored in the first half of the friendly and later shared his excitement about finding the net in what is shaping up to be an encouraging summer for the Red Devils under new manager Ruben Amorim.
“It felt good,” Dorgu told MUTV. “It was good to help the team out there and it was good to get the win. We just keep improving and look forward to the season.”
The 21-year-old left-back also appreciated the support from fans despite difficult weather conditions at the Soldier Field stadium.
“It was good to see the fans were still there even though the weather conditions were not so good. It was good that the team gave a good performance for the fans.”
Dorgu, who joined United this summer, has been growing in confidence and seems to be adapting quickly to Amorim’s philosophy.
“I feel like the pre-season is helping everyone to understand Ruben’s ideas even more. The more training we have, the more we will grow into his ideas and I feel like it is being seen a little bit on the pitch already.”
He also praised fellow goalscorer Rasmus Hojlund, who was on target again in the same match. “It was good to see him score again and hopefully he will score more in the season.”
With the new Premier League campaign on the horizon, Dorgu insists the focus remains on steady progress.
“Every game is a chance to improve and be ready for Arsenal. Every game is important and we will just take it game by game.”
