Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu is set to serve a three-match domestic suspension after receiving a red card in the team’s recent 3-2 triumph over Ipswich Town.
The incident occurred when Dorgu was dismissed after VAR review for a challenge on Omari Hutchinson that was not initially penalised.
The suspension means Patrick Dorgu will be unavailable for Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup fifth-round match against Fulham, as well as Premier League encounters with Arsenal and Leicester City in March.
However, the Danish born of Nigerian heritage will remain eligible for Manchester United’s Europa League round-of-16 ties against Real Sociedad.
Amorim expressed confidence in Dorgu’s ability to bounce back, stating, “He will play in the Europa League, for sure, as we have to make rotation. It’s the life of a player, you make a mistake but you have to go again and play the next game”.
Despite the setback, United managed to secure a victory, with Dorgu’s teammates stepping up to overcome the numerical disadvantage.
