Daniel Sanchez, the coach of Valenciennes, has expressed regret over the departure of Algerian midfielder Foued Kadir, who has recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Olympique de Marseille. Speaking to RMC, Sanchez acknowledged Kadir’s positive contributions, stating, “On a sporting level, I can only regret the departure of Foued. He really had a good first part of the season.”
Sanchez explained that Kadir’s departure was influenced by his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), preventing Valenciennes from utilizing him in January and possibly part of February. He elaborated, “He left for the CAN, so we knew we couldn’t use him for the month of January and maybe part of the month of February.”
With Kadir’s contract set to expire in five months, Sanchez indicated that this was the last opportunity for Valenciennes to gain something in return for the player. He added optimistically, “Maybe that will allow us to take someone else in his place.”
