Daniel Opare has bid farewell to Standard de Liège after the expiration of his contract with the club. The Ghanaian international announced via Twitter that Sunday’s match against Genk would be his last in the red jersey after four years with the club.
Despite unsuccessful discussions for a contract extension with Standard, Opare has attracted interest from various clubs across Europe. Reports suggest that he is set to join FC Porto in Portugal, a move confirmed by his agent, Djuro Ivanisevic. Ivanisevic also mentioned that clubs from Italy and Germany had shown interest in the right-back.
Opare’s departure comes after playing 92 matches in the Belgian championship since his arrival from Real Madrid four years ago. He has been one of Standard’s standout players, especially during the recent Play-Off 1 matches.
