Danel Dongmo: Beitar Jerusalem eye move for Cameroon midfielder from Petrolul

Cameroonian central midfielder Danel Dongmo of Romanian side Petrolul is being linked with a summer move to Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem, with his contractual situation raising the prospect he could yet be available as a free agent.

The 25-year-old, valued at €450,000 on Transfermarkt, is reportedly on Beitar’s radar as they look to reinforce their midfield ahead of the new Ligat ha’Al campaign. The move is at rumour stage, with the probability of a deal described only as “?” and no agreement yet in place between the clubs.

Dongmo, born in Douala on 31 January 2001, is a left-footed central midfielder standing at 1.82m who operates primarily in the middle of the park. He wears the number 5 shirt for Petrolul and features in Romania’s SuperLiga, having established himself there as a physically strong and technically tidy presence.

Details of his current contract at Petrolul are unclear, with no official expiry date listed. That uncertainty has fuelled talk that the player could run down his deal and potentially leave as a free agent if terms are not clarified or renewed in the coming months.

Recent data shows Dongmo continuing to feature regularly for Petrolul in league action, including a recent SuperLiga outing in Ploiești in which he completed the full 90 minutes in central midfield in a tight game for the Romanian side. While the match finished level on the scoreboard, his performance again underlined his value as a reliable, hard‑working option in the engine room.

Dongmo has spent his senior career in Romania with Petrolul, building his reputation away from the European spotlight. His progression has now drawn interest from abroad, with a possible switch from the Romanian SuperLiga to Israel’s top flight representing a notable step in his career.

Should a move to Beitar Jerusalem materialise, it would offer the Douala-born midfielder a new platform in a different league and could be the springboard that defines the next phase of his development and international visibility.
