Crystal Palace have tabled a €10 million bid for Ivorian striker Oumar Diakité, as the Premier League side look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Diakité, who was developed at ASEC Mimosas in Abidjan, made the move to Stade de Reims from RB Salzburg in July 2023.
Despite flashes of promise, his first full season in Ligue 1 proved challenging.
The 21-year-old scored four goals and registered one assist in 24 appearances, as Reims endured a difficult campaign that ultimately ended in relegation to Ligue 2.
With the drop, interest in Diakité has intensified across Europe, and Crystal Palace have now made their move.
According to Africafoot, the London club have presented a formal offer worth €10 million to Reims’ management, hoping to secure the services of the Ivorian international on a five-year deal.
Reports suggest the Eagles are also prepared to offer Diakité an annual salary of €3.5 million.
While the player is reportedly eager to test himself in the Premier League and is keen on a move to Selhurst Park, Reims are playing hardball.
Club president Jean-Pierre Caillot is believed to be holding out for additional offers that could exceed Palace’s valuation.
Diakité, who has 15 international caps and two goals for the Ivory Coast, is currently valued at €6 million on Transfermarkt.
Since winning the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivorian national team, Diakité’s stock has continued to rise despite a difficult club campaign.
His pace, versatility in forward positions, and willingness to press from the front have attracted suitors looking for dynamic young attackers.
Crystal Palace, currently undergoing a gradual squad rebuild, view him as a long-term investment capable of adapting to the physical demands of English football.
With the transfer window heating up and Reims likely needing to sell after their relegation, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining Diakité’s next move.
If Palace can agree terms with the French side, the Ivorian may soon be showcasing his talents under the bright lights of the Premier League.
