Crystal Palace strike deal to sign Chelsea outcast Axel Disasi on loan

Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Axel Disasi on loan, according to a report by RMC Sport, with the French defender now edging closer to a move to Selhurst Park.

The proposed deal will see Palace pay a loan fee for the 28-year-old, but there will be no option to make the transfer permanent. Talks between Disasi’s representatives and the Eagles are continuing as the two sides work towards completing the move.

Disasi has been deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea and is set for another temporary departure after spending the last two seasons away from Stamford Bridge.

Disasi faces another loan spell

The former AS Monaco centre-back joined Aston Villa on loan before moving to West Ham United for the 2025/26 campaign. His time with the Hammers ended in disappointment as the club suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Despite changes in the Chelsea dugout, Disasi has remained outside the plans of the club’s head coach. He failed to establish himself under Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior and has similarly been overlooked by current boss Xabi Alonso.

His impending move to Palace therefore represents another opportunity to revive his career and secure regular first-team football in the Premier League.

Disasi arrived at Chelsea from Monaco with significant expectations but has struggled to establish himself as a long-term fixture in the Blues’ defence. Another loan move now appears to be the preferred solution for both the player and the club.

Palace find Lacroix replacement

Disasi’s arrival would also provide Palace with a numerical replacement for Maxence Lacroix, who has left Selhurst Park for Chelsea.

The French defender made the move across London after representing Les Bleus at the FIFA World Cup, creating a vacancy in Palace’s defensive ranks.

The potential arrival of Disasi would allow Oliver Glasner’s side to maintain their defensive numbers while adding a player with considerable Premier League experience.

With an agreement already reached between the clubs, negotiations between Palace and Disasi’s representatives are now the key step before the transfer can be completed. The Frenchman is consequently closing in on a third successive loan spell, with Selhurst Park poised to become his next destination.
