Crystal Palace make move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana

Malick Fofana, the Belgian-Guinean winger currently at Lyon, has been linked with a move to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Fofana, 21, has made six appearances for Lyon so far this season, scoring twice across Ligue 1 and Champions League qualifying. He has featured in both of Lyon’s league matches and all four of their Champions League qualifying games, starting three of the European fixtures.

The left winger joined Lyon from Belgian club KAA Gent in January 2024 in a deal worth €19.5m. He has since established himself as part of the French club’s first-team squad, with his current contract running until 30 June 2028.

Fofana’s recent involvement includes a goal in Ligue 1 and another in Champions League qualifying. He has played 56 minutes in the league and 280 minutes in European qualifying this campaign.

A move to Crystal Palace would take the player from Ligue 1 to the Premier League, although the rumour does not indicate that an agreement has been reached or provide details of any proposed fee.

Fofana was born in Aalst and is eligible to represent Belgium and Guinea. He remains a Lyon player under contract beyond the current season, while Palace are the club currently linked with a potential transfer.
