Crystal Palace hail Jesurun Rak-Sakyi after Ghana debut in Mexico
Crystal Palace have officially congratulated Academy graduate Jesurun Rak-Sakyi after the winger made his senior international debut for Ghana.
The 23-year-old winger featured for the Black Stars in their recent 2-0 friendly defeat against Mexico. The pre-World Cup warm-up match took place at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico.
“Congratulations to Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who made his senior debut for Ghana,” the Premier League club stated in an official release.
Palace added their praise for the youngster’s milestone performance on the international stage, concluding the message with, “Well done, Jes!”
Rak-Sakyi was handed a starting role by Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz and played 66 minutes of the encounter.
He nearly marked the milestone with a goal early in the second half. “The winger played 66 minutes and came inches away from scoring shortly after the restart, when he saw a powerful effort crash back off the crossbar,” the club statement noted.
The London-born forward recently completed a domestic loan spell with Stoke City before committing his international future to the West African nation.
His debut comes at a crucial time as players compete for spots ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Ghana is scheduled to play Wales in a final warm-up match before Queiroz finalizes his 26-man tournament roster.
The Black Stars will face Panama, England, and Croatia in the group stage of the tournament.
