Defending champions CR Belouizdad punched their ticket to the Algerian Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over third-division outfit MC Bejaia in the last quarter-final match on Friday.
The win rounded out the semi-final lineup, setting the stage for an exciting next round.
The first half saw CRB take control, bossing possession and probing for openings, but they couldn’t break the deadlock, leaving the score locked at 0-0.
The second half brought more of the same until the 53rd minute, when “Mayo” struck gold. Latching onto a pinpoint pass from Meziane, who dazzled throughout the game, he slotted home the decisive goal that sent CRB through.
Next up, CR Belouizdad will square off against MC El Bayadh in the first semi-final, while local rivals USM Alger and USM El Harrach clash in the second.
The Algerian Football Federation has yet to pin down dates for these mouthwatering fixtures, but anticipation is already building for the defending champs’ next challenge.
