Mehdi Rabhi, the president of CR Belouizdad, remains steadfast in his belief that his team can still challenge for the title in the Algerian football league, dismissing any notion of an early coronation for MC Algiers.
Addressing the media after the conclusion of the ordinary general assembly of the LFP, Rabhi emphasized that the title race is far from over, pointing out that there are still 27 points up for grabs in the remaining fixtures.
“We have our say if ethics are respected,” Rabhi asserted, highlighting his team’s determination to compete at the highest level. Currently occupying third place in the standings with 39 points, CR Belouizdad trails behind CS Constantine and MC Alger, with a match in hand against USM Khenchela.
Rabhi also raised concerns about refereeing errors, suggesting that CR Belouizdad has been adversely affected by such decisions. He expressed confidence that with the implementation of VAR in championship matches, his team would be leading the table.
Furthermore, Rabhi voiced optimism about CR Belouizdad’s prospects in the Algerian Cup, noting the presence of VAR to uphold ethical standards in the competition.
Despite criticism leveled against the team this season, Rabhi emphasized the quality of the players and pledged to evaluate the squad’s performance at the end of the season.
In a bid to strengthen Algerian clubs competing in African competitions, Rabhi called for an increase in the number of foreign players allowed per club, proposing a raise from three to five.
However, Amine Mesloug, the interim president of the LFP, stated that such a decision falls under the jurisdiction of the federal office of the FAF.
Rabhi concluded by reaffirming his commitment to CR Belouizdad’s supporters, promising to deliver “at least one title” in the ongoing season, underscoring the club’s ambition for success on the domestic front.
