Speaking after the game in an interview with Sky Sports, Lampard was full of admiration for Onyeka’s performance, emphasizing that the goal was a reflection of the hard work he consistently puts in.

“The work that he does for the goal is exactly what he has been doing for us and it’s what we brought him in to do—sort of breaking up play,” Lampard explained. “But there’s more to his game.”

The former Chelsea boss went on to highlight Onyeka’s versatility, noting that while his physicality and defensive contributions are well known, he also possesses an attacking edge that is beginning to shine through.

“The physical part of his game is one thing, and breaking it up. But he has got that also (shooting),” Lampard added. “All round, he’s a quality player.”

“He’s an amazing lad coming from the Premier League with this incredible humility where he just comes in and works,” Lampard said. “He’s such a lovely bloke and I’m delighted for him. This place adores him already.”

Onyeka’s goal and commanding display could mark a turning point in his Coventry career, as he continues to settle into his role and showcase his full potential. With Lampard’s backing and growing confidence, the Nigerian international looks set to play a key role in Coventry City’s ambitions for the remainder of the season.
