Stade Rennais has made an impactful start to the winter transfer window by securing the services of Cote d’Ivoire midfielder Seko Fofana.

Officially unveiled on January 1, 2025, Fofana joins Rennes on a four-and-a-half-year deal for 20 million Euros, marking his return to Ligue 1 after an 18-month absence.

Fofana, a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations champion and former RC Lens captain, brings vast experience and leadership to the Rennes squad.

Known for his commanding presence in midfield and technical versatility, his addition is seen as a statement of intent by the Bretons.

The move comes as Rennes looks to recover from an underwhelming start to the season under head coach Jorge Sampaoli.

Expressing his excitement, Fofana emphasized his admiration for Stade Rennais:

“I have always followed this club, and it holds a special place in Ligue 1. The project presented by Arnaud Pouille and Frederic Massara convinced me. I’m eager to contribute and help the club achieve its goals.”

Rennes fans have every reason to be optimistic. With Fofana joining a talented roster, the club is set to push for better results and reclaim its rightful position in the league.

The 29-year-old’s return promises a thrilling chapter for both him and Stade Rennais.
