The race for the presidency of the Tunisian Football Federation has been marred by legal challenges, with Maher Ben Aissa’s list filing a complaint against the validity of the competing list led by Jalal Takiya.
Anis Al-Baji, a member of Ben Aissa’s list, revealed in statements to Tunisian radio station “Mosaique” that their list has lodged multiple complaints regarding the validity of the nomination procedures of the opposing list.
Al-Baji clarified that the first complaint revolves around Takiya’s list’s failure to complete the necessary documentation for candidacy in the elections by last Saturday, the deadline for receiving candidates’ papers.
Additionally, Al-Baji noted that the second complaint challenges the validity of the nomination procedures for one of the members of Takiya’s list, who requires authorization to stand for election based on the nature of their work.
Today, Wednesday, marks the deadline for receiving challenges against any of the nominated lists in the elections.
The competition has narrowed down to two lists, Maher Ben Aissa’s and Jalal Takiya’s, following the withdrawal of Wissam Al-Latif’s list from the race yesterday, Tuesday.
