Manasse Kusu’s transition to Mjällby in the Swedish top flight has not gone as planned, with the Congolese midfielder expressing frustration over his lack of playing time since joining the club in August.
In a recent interview, he acknowledged his disappointment and hinted at a potential move in search of more opportunities.
Kusu, who signed a four-year contract after transferring from second-division side Östers, appears to have fallen out of favor with Mjällby’s coaching staff.
Reports suggest the club is considering sending him out on loan, a prospect the 23-year-old is keeping an open mind about.
“I would be lying if I said my situation looks good,” Kusu admitted. “I haven’t been able to play as much as I wanted or thought I would. For me, the most important thing is playing regularly.
I’m at an age where I need to develop, and that only happens with game time. Ideally, I’d like to stay in the Allsvenskan because I feel comfortable at this level, but we’ll see. I’m keeping all options open. Sometimes, taking a step back can help you move two steps forward.”
Since his arrival, Kusu has struggled for minutes, making just five league appearances and being named as a substitute six times.
His limited role has left him dissatisfied, as he had hoped for a more prominent place in the squad.
Despite the challenges, the midfielder remains focused on securing more playing time, whether at Mjällby or elsewhere.
As the transfer window approaches, his future remains uncertain, but a loan move could offer the opportunity he seeks to regain form and confidence.
