Congolese defender Yhoan Andzouana joins Konyaspor on three-year deal

Congolese defender Yhoan Andzouana joins Konyaspor on three-year deal

Konyaspor have completed the signing of Congolese international Yhoan Andzouana on a three-year contract, reinforcing their defensive line ahead of the upcoming Turkish Super Lig campaign.

The 26-year-old arrives from Slovakian club DAC Dunajská Streda, where he spent five productive seasons and established himself as a key figure.

Andzouana’s move to Turkey marks a significant new chapter in a career that began at AS Monaco and has since spanned several European leagues.

Despite being trained in the youth system of Monaco, Andzouana did not make a breakthrough in France’s top flight.

Instead, he built his career steadily across Europe, gaining valuable experience with Spanish side CF Peralada and Girona, followed by a stint in Belgium with KSV Roeselare. However, it was in Slovakia where he made his most enduring impact.

During his time at DAC Dunajská Streda, Andzouana made 159 appearances and contributed 22 goals — a notable tally for a player primarily deployed in defensive roles.

His performances were characterised by tactical intelligence, consistency, and a surprising threat in attacking phases, qualities that made him a mainstay in the team’s setup.

His ability to adapt across various systems and leagues has made him an attractive prospect for Konyaspor, who are looking to add proven experience to their squad.

With the Turkish club aiming to improve on recent campaigns, the signing of Andzouana aligns with their ambition to bring in players capable of making an immediate impact.

The formal signing took place at the club’s museum — a gesture that reflects Konyaspor’s intention to integrate the defender not just into the team but into the fabric of the club.

Present at the ceremony was Yusuf Küçükbakırcı, director of the football division, underscoring the importance the club places on this acquisition.

Andzouana will wear the number 23 shirt for the Green and Whites as he begins this next phase of his professional journey.

The Turkish Super Lig presents a fresh challenge and a more visible platform on which he can showcase the experience and maturity developed over years in European football.

For Konyaspor, bringing in a player of Andzouana’s pedigree is seen as a step forward in their recruitment strategy — targeting players with international experience and a track record of reliability. His arrival is expected to add depth, leadership, and versatility to the club’s backline.

As for Andzouana, the move offers an opportunity not only to test himself in a more competitive environment but also to elevate his standing within the Congolese national team.

Already capped at international level, he will now have the chance to further solidify his place in the squad by performing regularly in one of Europe’s increasingly competitive domestic leagues.

This transfer represents more than just a change of club — it’s a continuation of a career built on resilience, consistency, and growth across multiple football cultures.

Konyaspor and Andzouana will both be hoping that this partnership marks the beginning of another successful chapter.
