Congolese defender Lucas Kalala joins Stockay Saint-Georges on one-year deal

Congolese defender Lucas Kalala joins Stockay Saint-Georges on one-year deal

Lucas Kalala has completed a move to Belgian third-division club Stockay Saint-Georges, signing a one-year contract after departing from the reserve team of Seraing, who compete in Belgium’s second tier.

The switch marks a new chapter for the promising right-back, who has chosen to take control of his own career trajectory with this transfer.

Seeking consistent playing time and a stable environment to develop further, Kalala joins Stockay with the clear intention of cementing a place in the squad and continuing his professional growth.

A product of the youth academy at Standard de Liège, Kalala was once regarded as a rising talent within the Belgian football system.

However, like many young players in top-tier academies, opportunities in the first team were limited. After leaving Standard, he spent time gaining experience, including a stint in the Netherlands with MVV Maastricht, where he racked up more than 80 senior appearances—a notable feat given his age.

Now at 22, Kalala is seeking to rebuild momentum in his career with a fresh start in a team where he is expected to play a more prominent role.

Stockay Saint-Georges, who are looking to strengthen their backline and aim higher in the third tier this season, believe they have made a smart acquisition in the pacey and hard-working defender.

Speaking shortly after the official announcement, Kalala expressed his excitement about the move. “I’m very happy to join Stockay.

I really liked the club’s project from the beginning. I had a good feeling right away and can’t wait to start the season and show what I’m capable of,” he said.

For Kalala, this move is more than just a change of clubs—it represents a crucial stage in his journey toward fulfilling the potential many saw in him during his early years at Standard.

The move to Stockay Saint-Georges presents a chance to play regular football, impress the coaching staff, and establish himself as a key figure in a side that values youth and ambition.

The club’s coaching team has already welcomed Kalala’s arrival, noting that his technical attributes, work rate, and prior experience in competitive senior football make him an ideal fit for their evolving system.

They believe the former Belgian youth international has what it takes to become a standout performer in the league.

Stockay’s ambitions for the upcoming season include building a balanced squad capable of challenging higher up the table, and Kalala’s arrival reflects their commitment to attracting quality players who are eager to grow with the club.

If the young right-back can meet the expectations placed on him, the deal may well serve as a launchpad to greater opportunities.

Kalala now faces the task of integrating quickly into his new environment, proving his readiness during pre-season, and showcasing the maturity gained through his earlier experiences.

The Belgian third division may be a new battleground, but for a player hungry to prove his worth, it’s also the perfect stage to rise again.
