Wydad Athletic Club has officially announced the signing of dynamic forward Stephane Aziz Ki, bolstering their squad as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.
The Burkinabe striker, aged 29, joins the Moroccan giants from Tanzanian side Young Africans (Yanga SC).
Aziz Ki has been one of Africa’s most sought-after players since his move from ASEC Mimosas, with an impressive track record that includes winning the Golden Boot in the 2023/24 NBC Premier League by netting 21 goals.
His standout performances in both the CAF Champions League and the NBC Premier League have attracted interest from several prominent clubs, including Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Pyramids FC.
Earlier attempts to recruit Aziz Ki by Wydad’s coach Rulani Mokwena were unsuccessful when the forward chose to renew his contract with Yanga.
However, he has now made the switch to Morocco ahead of Wydad’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign, joining alongside Noureddine Amrabat and Hamza Hanouri.
In an official statement, Wydad Athletic Club said, “The Wydad Athletic Club management announces the official signing of the players: Noureddine Amrabat, Hamza Hanouri, and Aziz Ki, wishing them and their teammates the best of luck with the team.”
Aziz Ki will be reunited with former Morocco international Nordin Amrabat, who recently signed a one-year contract with Wydad.
As they gear up for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Wydad will compete in Group G against Juventus, Manchester City, and Al Ain.
Ahead of the tournament, the team is scheduled for friendly matches against Sevilla and FC Porto as part of their final preparations.
