Experienced DR Congo forward, Cedric Bakambu, was on target for Real Betis on Thursday night, inspiring the side to a 2-0 victory against Jagiellonia in the Europa Conference League.
The 33-year-old started the game serving as the first leg of the quarter-final tie between the two teams.
In the 24th minute, he weaved past defenders on the edge of the box before unleashing a precise low drive into the centre of the net. Jagiellonia goalkeeper Slawomir Abramowicz had no answer as Betis took a deserved 1-0 lead.
Just before the break, Bakambu was once again in the thick of the action. He fired a dangerous shot that struck the post, but the rebound fell kindly to Jesus Rodriguez. The midfielder reacted quickly, slotting the ball into the bottom left corner to double the lead at 2-0.
After shining in the clash against Jagiellonia, Cedric Bakambu is likely to start the reverse fixture as well.
That encounter will be played in Poland on Thursday, April 18.
