Azam FC has announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Ever William Meza Mercado, marking a significant addition to the Tanzanian Ligi Kuu Bara club. The 24-year-old, previously on loan to Alianza FC in Colombia, joins Azam FC on a four-year contract, set to run until June 2028.

The announcement came on the evening of May 25, shortly after Azam FC’s match against Kagera Sugar.

The club released an official statement on its social media platform, saying, “Azam FC is pleased to introduce Ever Meza, our new midfielder, by purchasing him from Colombian club Leones.”

Despite scoring only one goal in 20 appearances this season, Meza’s potential and versatility have been recognized by the Tanzanian club.

Meza’s football journey has been marked by numerous loans and transfers. Starting his career with Leones, he also had stints with Llaneros and Envigado, before being loaned out to Alianza FC.

The frequent changes of clubs have provided Meza with a broad range of experiences, albeit with challenges in finding a stable position.

The move to Azam FC signifies a new chapter for Meza, who will now face the task of adapting to a new country and a different style of play.

Transitioning from the vibrant and intense football culture of South America to the dynamic environment of Tanzanian football will be a significant adjustment.

However, Meza’s background suggests he is well-prepared for this challenge.

Azam FC, known for its ambition and competitive spirit, is optimistic about Meza’s contribution to the team.

The club’s management believes that his skills and experience will enhance their midfield capabilities.

The four-year contract underscores their confidence in his potential to make a long-term impact.

Meza’s integration into the squad will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike. His ability to adapt quickly and showcase his talent will be crucial in determining his success at Azam FC.

The move also highlights Azam FC’s commitment to strengthening their squad with international talent, aiming for greater achievements in the Tanzanian league and beyond.

This transfer not only boosts Azam FC’s midfield options but also introduces a promising player to Tanzanian football.

As Meza embarks on this new journey, both the player and the club will hope for a fruitful partnership that brings success on the pitch.
