Morocco international Achraf Hakimi is looking forward to facing his former Paris Saint Germain teammate and close pal, Kylian Mbappe at the FIFA Club World Cup semifinals clash.
Mbappe, who left the French giants last summer come up against his former employers on Wednesday in a high-stake clash between PSG and Real Madrid.
Despite being close friends, Hakimi insists both players will fight for their respective clubs in an attempt to secure final spot at the tournament.
“Mbappé is my friend, but we each defend our own team.” Hakimi told DAZN. “I spoke with Mbappé before the tournament and he was sick, but he’s fully fit now.”
He concluded: “I’m happy to face Mbappé, but the most important thing is our team.”
Mbappé missed Real Madrid’s group stage matches after suffering a fever hours before the first match against Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia.
In the knockout stages, Mbappe came on as a substitute against Juventus in the round of 16 and then against Dortmund in the quarter-finals, where he netted a belter in the 3-2 win over the German outfit.
