Christophe Dugarry slams Desire Doue’s celebration against Monaco
Desire Doue answered his critics in style with a standout performance against Monaco in the Champions League, scoring twice and adding an assist for PSG.
Under pressure in recent weeks for a dip in form, the young forward chose a pointed celebration, placing his hands over his ears as a clear message to those who had doubted him.
That gesture did not sit well with Christophe Dugarry. Speaking on RMC Sport, and quoted by Planète PSG, he made it clear he strongly disapproved of Doue’s reaction.
“Désiré Doué’s gesture? I think it’s rubbish. If you get offended because you were criticized, even just a little bit, for a week,” he said, believing that the player is exaggerating in the face of remarks that are ultimately normal for a professional.
Dugarry went further, reminding that Doue has long been praised as a Golden Boy-level talent and must accept scrutiny when his performances drop.
“It also shows maturity to recognize that your performances have been a little less good. Even your own teammate told you that,” he added, calling on the young Parisian to grow up and better manage the pressure that comes with his status.
