Bayer Leverkusen rule out Christian Kofane summer exit
Bayer Leverkusen have ruled out the possibility of Christian Kofane leaving the club this summer, despite growing interest from several major European sides.
The 19-year-old Cameroon international has emerged as one of the standout performers for the Bundesliga club this season, attracting attention from teams including Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Chelsea FC.
However, Leverkusen’s sporting director Simon Rolfes has made it clear that the club intend to keep the young forward as part of their long-term plans.
“We are counting on him for next season. We do not sign players to sell them immediately.”
Kofane joined Leverkusen during the summer transfer window of 2025 and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad.
His ability to adapt to the demands of top-level football has been evident throughout the campaign.
Across all competitions this season, he has made 27 appearances, scoring five goals and providing four assists.
Those contributions have underlined his growing influence within the team and helped reinforce the club’s decision to retain him.
Despite the transfer speculation, the player has remained focused on his performances, continuing to deliver consistent displays. Rolfes also highlighted the player’s commitment to the club amid increasing external interest.
“He has given us his word and has never wavered. That is extraordinary.”
Kofane is currently under contract with Leverkusen until June 2029, a deal that reflects the club’s confidence in his long-term potential.
His reported market value has risen significantly, further emphasising his importance within the squad.
Attention will now turn back to on-field matters, with Leverkusen preparing for a crucial DFB-Pokal semi-final against Bayern Munich.
The match presents another opportunity for Kofane to showcase his development on a major stage.
For now, the club’s position remains firm: the young Cameroonian will continue his progress in Germany, despite interest from some of Europe’s biggest teams.
