Morocco goalkeeper Chouaib Bellaarouch joins Stade de Reims
Moroccan goalkeeper Chouaib Bellaarouch has joined French club Stade de Reims from the Mohammed VI Football Academy, with the 18-year-old set to continue his development in the club’s youth structure.
Reims, who play in Ligue 2, announced the arrival of the young Morocco international on Friday.
“Stade de Reims is pleased to announce the arrival of young Moroccan international Chouaib Bellaarouch at Reims Révélations” (its post-training structure), according to a statement from the Champagne club.
Bellaarouch will become part of Reims’ “Elite Group”, where the club intends to provide him with an environment to continue his development.
The club said he would “continue his development and write the next pages of his journey within the City of Kings”.
Reims described Bellaarouch as “one of the most promising goalkeepers of his generation in Morocco” and confirmed that he arrives from the renowned Mohammed VI Academy.
The teenager has already built a strong reputation through his performances with Morocco’s youth teams, despite his age.
According to Reims, Bellaarouch was developed at “the prestigious Moroccan institution”, following a similar pathway to his brother Allaa Bellaarouch, who previously played for Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
The French club believes the young goalkeeper is ready to take the next step in his career by experiencing European football.
Bellaarouch’s international record has also played a major role in attracting attention. He represented Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations and the 2025 World Cup at youth level.
His performances at the U17 AFCON were particularly impressive as Morocco won the tournament.
Reims highlighted his “decisive role” in that success, with Bellaarouch receiving the award for Best Goalkeeper of the competition.
He continued to impress at the U17 World Cup several months later, including during Morocco’s meeting with the United States in the round of 32.
The goalkeeper then produced another standout performance at the Mohammed VI U19 International Tournament last April.
In the semi-final against Leeds United, Bellaarouch saved three penalties to help his side progress.
He went on to win the tournament with the Moroccan academy and was again named Best Goalkeeper of the competition.
Reims now hope to help Bellaarouch build on that record as he begins his European adventure in France.
The club believes his performances, experience and potential make him an important addition to its development structure.
“Seduced by his potential, his background and his qualities, Stade de Reims is today happy to count Chouaib Bellaarouch among the young talents of Reims Révélations and intends to support him in his development to allow him, in turn, to join the great lineage of goalkeepers discovered in Champagne.”
Bellaarouch will now continue his development with Stade de Reims after making his name through the Mohammed VI Football Academy and Morocco’s youth teams.
