Chippa United target Power Dynamos defender Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele
Chippa United are interested in signing Nigerian centre-back Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele from Zambian club Power Dynamos.
Bamidele, 27, is understood to be a potential target for the Chilli Boys as they continue to strengthen their squad. Power Dynamos are due to spend 10 days in South Africa during pre-season, providing an opportunity for the defender’s situation to develop.
A move to Chippa United would see Bamidele join international team-mate Stanley Nwabali, who recently returned to the South African club despite interest from overseas.
Bamidele is reportedly entering the final year of his contract with Power Dynamos. The Zambian side are believed to be keen to secure a financial return for the player’s departure, particularly after bringing in other players who operate in the same position.
The defender joined Power Dynamos about a year ago from Shooting Stars. Before moving into club football, he represented Nigeria at under-17 level.
There has been no official confirmation from either club regarding the reported interest. Soccer Laduma contacted Chippa United and Power Dynamos for comment but did not receive a response.
Chippa United have already been active in the transfer market. The club have completed the signings of Daba Diakite, Muhammad Carrim, Imraan Jones, Tshepang Makara, Obakhe Tshaya, Lebohang Tshabalala, Ntuthuko Mlotshwa and Muzomuhle Khanyi.
The potential arrival of Bamidele would add another defensive option to the Chilli Boys’ squad and could also reunite him with Nwabali, who has recently returned to the club. Nwabali’s decision to come back followed overseas interest in the goalkeeper.
Bamidele has spent the past season with Power Dynamos after leaving Shooting Stars, and his reported contract position means the club may face a decision over whether to retain him or consider a transfer before his deal expires.
For now, the defender remains a Power Dynamos player, with the proposed move to Chippa United yet to materialise.
