The renowned footballer David Beckham , often considered the most popular player in China, has teamed up with the country’s football federation, despite its tarnished reputation due to repeated corruption scandals. Beckham has taken on the role of an “ambassador” for Chinese football.
During the international break, Beckham is actively promoting Chinese football, even in the face of concerns about rigged results and corrupt practices within the country’s football clubs. As part of his tour, the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder visited Beijing Guoan, a club featuring striker Frédéric Kanouté, who warmly welcomed the PSG star.
Kanouté shared his excitement on his Facebook page, stating, “The club asked me to welcome David Beckham because we often crossed paths on the pitch. It is a great pleasure. His arrival obviously causes a lot of excitement here. Especially since Paris Saint-Germain is gaining popularity in China. The Chinese are passionate about football and follow teams with great players, of which Paris is one.”
