Chiamaka Nnadozie earns WSL Team of the Season honour after standout Brighton debut
Brighton & Hove Albion Women’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has capped a remarkable first season in the Women’s Super League by earning a place in the WhoScored.com Team of the Season, a recognition that underlines her growing influence in English football and her rising stature on the global stage.
The Nigeria international, a key figure for the Super Falcons, joined Brighton from Paris FC last summer and quickly established herself as one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league.
Her consistency between the posts played a central role in Brighton’s solid campaign, with the club finishing seventh in the standings after a season built on defensive resilience and disciplined organisation.
Nnadozie’s inclusion comes after a campaign that saw her register six clean sheets across 19 WSL appearances, while maintaining an impressive average rating of 6.87.
She was particularly effective in high-pressure situations, making 44 saves from inside the box and a further 18 from distance, while conceding 21 goals over the course of the season.
The Team of the Season list was heavily influenced by Manchester City Women, who dominated the selection with six players, including Kerstin Casparij, Alex Greenwood, Vivianne Miedema, Kerolin, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw.
Arsenal also contributed two players, while Chelsea Women, Aston Villa and Brighton each had one representative, with Nnadozie standing as Brighton’s sole inclusion.

Her recognition places her among an elite group of performers who shaped the WSL season, reinforcing her reputation as one of Africa’s leading goalkeepers and a key asset for both club and country.
The selection also highlights her seamless adaptation to English football, having transitioned from France’s Division 1 Féminine to the intensity and pace of the WSL without losing her composure or shot-stopping sharpness.
Attention now turns to a potential crowning moment in her debut English campaign, as Brighton prepare for a historic Women’s FA Cup final showdown against Manchester City at Wembley on May 31.
