Chemsdine Talbi has expressed his immense pride in joining the Moroccan national team after receiving his first call-up to the Atlas Lions.
The FC Bruges winger, who opted to represent Morocco instead of Belgium, detailed the reasons behind his decision and his aspirations with the team.
Despite initial concerns over a potential injury setback, Talbi has linked up with the squad and is relishing the experience.
“The day the squad list was announced, I was overjoyed,” he said in a video shared by the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
“After training, I checked my phone and saw countless messages from my family.
It was an incredible feeling. It has always been my dream to be here, playing alongside top players and representing my country.”
Although born and raised in Belgium, the 19-year-old has long followed the Moroccan national team and never hid his desire to wear the Atlas Lions’ jersey.
His commitment ultimately saw Morocco secure his services ahead of the Belgian Red Devils.
Settling in Quickly
Talbi, who has been warmly welcomed by his new teammates, is already feeling at home in the national team camp.
“I already knew some of the players before coming, and they have made my integration very smooth,” he said. “Every day, I get to know them better and improve as a player.
I’ve watched all of Morocco’s matches, and everything here is exceptional—the facilities, the training pitches, and the coaching staff. It’s a fantastic environment.”
High Hopes for the Future
For Talbi, this maiden call-up marks just the beginning. He is determined to cement his place in the squad and contribute to the team’s success, with qualification for the 2026 World Cup high on his list of priorities.
“My goal is to win as many titles as possible, make the Moroccan people proud, and most importantly, enjoy myself on the pitch,” he stated.
Talbi also had a special message for Moroccan fans, thanking them for their warm reception.
“To all the supporters, a huge thank you for your welcome! I’m delighted to be part of this team—it’s truly a dream come true.”
Although likely to start on the bench for Morocco’s friendly against Niger, all eyes will be on the young winger when he eventually makes his debut.
