Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson targets Newcastle move

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has informed the club of his desire to join Newcastle United, according to The Telegraph.

The Senegalese forward is reportedly eager to make the switch after deciding to seek a new challenge away from Stamford Bridge.

For Newcastle, Jackson’s interest comes as a significant boost following a series of unsuccessful pursuits in the transfer market.

Eddie Howe’s side have already missed out on several attacking targets this summer, including Hugo Ekitike, who opted for Liverpool, and Benjamin Šeško, now at Manchester United.

The potential move, however, is closely tied to the future of Newcastle’s star striker Alexander Isak. The Swedish international, whose contract runs until 2028, has been the subject of persistent interest from Liverpool.

Officially, Newcastle consider Isak untouchable, but reports suggest the club might reconsider if presented with a bid in the region of €170 million.

Jackson’s arrival would help fill any potential gap in Newcastle’s attack should Isak depart, but the club’s current stance is to retain their number nine unless an extraordinary offer forces their hand.

This means negotiations over Jackson’s transfer are unlikely to progress without clarity on the Isak situation.

For Chelsea, the 23-year-old’s exit would mark the end of his short spell in London, where he has shown glimpses of promise but has also faced challenges in cementing a consistent starting role.

Jackson’s versatility, pace, and finishing ability have drawn attention from several Premier League clubs, yet Newcastle now appear to be his preferred destination.

From Newcastle’s perspective, the attraction is clear. Jackson fits the profile of a dynamic forward capable of linking play and stretching defences, attributes that align with Howe’s high-intensity attacking style. His arrival could add depth and competition to a squad looking to strengthen for both domestic and European campaigns.

The Magpies’ earlier frustrations in the market have intensified their need to secure a quality forward. Ekitike’s preference for Liverpool and Šeško’s decision to join Manchester United left Newcastle with limited options. Jackson’s willingness to join offers a rare advantage in a competitive window where many targets have slipped away.

Still, the move’s feasibility hinges on whether Newcastle choose to act now or wait until Isak’s future is resolved.

If Liverpool decide to meet the club’s hefty €170 million valuation, the funds could accelerate a deal for Jackson. If not, Newcastle may seek to sign him regardless to bolster their attacking depth.

For now, both clubs remain in a delicate position. Chelsea will weigh the benefits of sanctioning Jackson’s departure against the need to maintain squad depth, while Newcastle balance the desire to add reinforcements with the challenge of holding on to their most prized asset.

As the transfer window continues, the situation promises to be one of the most closely watched in the Premier League. Jackson has made his intentions clear — the next step rests with Newcastle’s decision-makers and whether Liverpool’s interest in Isak turns into a bid capable of reshaping the summer market.
