Chelsea to consider re-signing Fikayo Tomori

Chelsea have reportedly been presented with the chance to bring back England international Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan during the January transfer window.

Tomori, of Nigerian descent, rose through Chelsea’s academy before leaving for Milan in January 2021 after falling out of favour under former manager Frank Lampard. The defender quickly established himself as a key figure in Milan’s backline, playing a crucial role in their Serie A title-winning campaign the following season.

This season, however, Tomori has seen limited playing time. Former Milan coach Paulo Fonseca used him sparingly, granting just 13 minutes of action across the last 10 Serie A matches before his departure. It remains uncertain whether new manager Sergio Conceição will reintegrate Tomori into the starting lineup.

Amid uncertainty surrounding his future, Juventus have emerged as strong contenders for Tomori’s signature. However, according to Sky Sports Switzerland, a surprising option for a return to Chelsea has also been proposed.

Chelsea, reportedly exploring defensive reinforcements, have yet to express significant interest in re-signing Tomori. The club is believed to view a move as contingent on the potential departure of Axel Disasi, who remains a part of Chelsea’s defensive setup.

For now, the prospect of Tomori returning to Stamford Bridge hangs in the balance, as Chelsea evaluates their defensive options for the remainder of the season.
