Chelsea have reportedly informed Bayern Munich that they will only allow Christopher Nkunku to join the team on a permanent deal.
The German forward of Congolese descent is a transfer target of the German Bundesliga champions as they look to strengthen their attack for the 2025/26 football season.
Bayern had initially set their sights on VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade, but the Swabians’ high asking price has forced the Bavarians to explore alternatives, with Nkunku now high on the list.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Chelsea have communicated their stance directly to Bayern, stressing that a loan deal is not on the table.
The London club is understood to have nearly finalised arrangements to sign RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons, but the deal hinges on Nkunku’s sale to free up space in the squad.
According to The Athletic, Nkunku also favours a permanent move, aligning with Chelsea’s position as negotiations continue.
