Chelsea are preparing to bring in a new striker this summer, despite having Nicolas Jackson as their main centre-forward.
The club’s hierarchy has made signing a top-class number nine a priority ahead of the transfer window.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea’s intent, revealing that discussions over a new striker are expected to intensify in the coming months. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he stated, “One crucial message is coming from sources close to Chelsea: the striker will be an absolute priority.”
Romano added that the Blues are willing to make a significant investment to secure a reliable goal scorer for new head coach Enzo Maresca.
“Negotiations are expected to take place closer to the summer window, with the Blues intending to spend important money on a new number 9 for Enzo Maresca,” he explained.
Jackson, who was Chelsea’s primary striker, is having a mixed campaign at Stamford Bridge. While the Senegalese forward showed flashes of brilliance, inconsistency in front of goal led to calls for reinforcements in attack.
Chelsea’s struggles in converting chances were a key concern, prompting the club to actively seek an upgrade in the position.
Chelsea’s recruitment team is expected to support manager Enzo Maresca with new additions for next season, and finding a clinical striker is at the top of their agenda.
The club has been linked with several high-profile forwards, though no formal negotiations have yet taken place.
