Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Olympique Lyon to sign Belgian forward of Guinean descent, Malick Fofana.
The dynamic attacker recorded an impressive 11 goals and 6 assists across 41 appearances last campaign, including crucial performances during Lyon’s Europa League quarter-final run.
The young winger’s rapid development earned him a senior Belgium debut in October 2024, adding to his growing reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
Chelsea’s recruitment team views Fofana as a potential long-term solution on the flanks, particularly after opting against making Jadon Sancho’s loan move permanent.
Fofana’s current contract with Lyon runs until 2028, giving the French club a strong negotiating position.
Fofana’s combination of pace, technical ability and end product makes him an attractive target as Chelsea look to add depth and competition to their forward line.
After inquiring about the youngster in the last few days, Chelsea have now opened talks with Lyon.
Although Fofana won’t come cheap, Chelsea are hopeful of agreeing on a reasonable fee to secure the services of the attacker.
