Chelsea move ahead of rivals in pursuit of Guinean prospect Amara Keïta

Chelsea have secured the signature of highly rated Guinean youngster Amara Keïta for an extended trial, edging out strong competition from several English clubs in the race to recruit one of West Africa’s most promising emerging talents.

The London club finalised the agreement last Thursday, according to information, bringing the schoolboy international to Britain after months of interest from across Europe.

Keïta, captain of Guinea’s national schoolboy team, arrived in London to begin what may become a decisive stage in his development.

Chelsea had identified the teenager as their leading target even as other sides made approaches.

His performances at the World Schools Cup in China were said to have been particularly influential in convincing the club to accelerate their pursuit.

The explained: “Yes, he left Conakry the day before yesterday to join the British squad. This is the culmination of several months of negotiations. Numerous European clubs expressed interest, but Chelsea emerged victorious. Initially, he will undergo a trial of more than two weeks with the London club. He has already begun training with Chelsea’s U15 team. This is a real opportunity and a great source of satisfaction for us.”

Interest in Keïta had surged following his displays at the schools’ tournament, prompting representatives from clubs across Europe to inquire about his availability.

Nottingham Forest, Watford, and Leicester City were among the English teams that signalled concrete interest, while Italian side Udinese have also monitored his progress.

However, Chelsea’s long-term sporting plan and the strength of their youth development structure reportedly persuaded the player and his entourage that the club offered the most convincing pathway.

The source added: “The youngster remains on the radar of other English clubs such as Nottingham Forest, Watford, and Leicester City, who are maintaining strong interest. But we were primarily convinced by Chelsea’s project, one of the biggest clubs in England.”

Keïta is expected to spend more than two weeks on trial with Chelsea’s academy.

A successful spell could lead to a formal offer and a significant step forward in his young career.

Should the club opt against signing him at this stage, he is scheduled to trial with Nottingham Forest next, with Watford, Leicester City, and Udinese prepared to assess him afterwards.

As Chelsea prepare for their upcoming Champions League meeting with Barcelona, 1xbet lists the odds at 2.20 for a Chelsea victory, 3.85 for a draw, and 2.75 for a Barcelona win.
