José Mourinho is keen to address Chelsea’s midfield shortage, which has led to deploying David Luiz in that role. According to the Daily Express, the Portuguese tactician has set his sights on Samir Khedira, whom he valued highly during his tenure at Real Madrid.
Despite returning to the Madrid squad after recovering from a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee in November, the German international of Tunisian descent faces stiff competition from Xabi Alonso, Luka Modric, Asier Illarramendi, and Angel di Maria. This competition for places may prompt him to seek an exit from the Spanish capital, with Chelsea emerging as a favorable destination. Reportedly, the Blues are willing to offer €45 million to secure his services.
