Premier League outfit Chelsea remains interested in Franco-Cameroonian attacker Hugo Ekitike despite closing in on the signing of Liam Delap.
The Blues are set to complete a deal worth £30m to sign the 22-year-old forward from the relegated Ipswich Town.
Ekitike rediscovered his form at Frankfurt following a difficult spell with Paris Saint Germain. He joined the Bundesliga club, initially on loan before making the move permanent last summer for just over €16m.
In his first full season, the forward has excelled, scoring 22 goals and provided 11 assists in 46 appearances across competitions.
Despite Chelsea advancing talks to sign Delap, the Premier League giants remain interested in Ekitike.
Chelsea are not the only club pushing to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain striker this summer. Liverpool have also opened talks to sign the Frenchman, who is valued by the Bundesliga club at €100m.
However, the UEFA Conference League winners are said to be in more advanced talks than the Merseyside outfit, who are pursuing more important targets like Florian Wirtz.
The recruitment drive at Stamford Bridge doesn’t look to be slowing down, and despite Enzo Maresca preferring a system with one striker, it appears the Blues could complete three signings in the striking department this window. In addition to Delap and Ekitiké, Chelsea are aiming to complete a deal that would see Emanuel Emegha join the club from Strasbourg in 2026.
