Chelsea handed boost in pursuit of Abidjan-born Marc Guehi as Palace prepare summer sale

Crystal Palace are reportedly open to the sale of club captain Marc Guehi during the upcoming transfer window, as part of a significant squad restructuring effort under manager Oliver Glasner.

According to a report by The Sun, the South London club is preparing for a summer overhaul and is targeting around £130 million in player sales to fund reinforcements.

Guehi, who was born in Abidjan, is seen as one of the most valuable assets Palace could offload, with several Premier League clubs, including his former side Chelsea, expressing interest in securing his signature.

The England international, who has been a regular in Palace’s back line and a leader on the pitch, has one year remaining on his current deal, which puts the club in a position where they must either renew his contract or consider a sale.

Chelsea are reportedly exploring the possibility of re-signing the defender, having previously allowed him to leave for Selhurst Park in 2021.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are also said to be monitoring Guehi’s situation closely, viewing him as a potential addition to their defensive setups ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Palace’s potential summer exits may not be limited to Guehi. Eberechi Eze, one of the club’s standout performers this season, could also be on the move if a club activates the £60 million release clause in his contract.

Eze’s creative spark and versatility have drawn widespread admiration, and he is expected to attract serious interest if made available.

With Glasner aiming to reshape his squad, Palace’s transfer activity could be among the most significant in the Premier League this summer.
