Chelsea Eye Jamal Musiala as potential reinforcement amidst form struggles

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing Bayern Munich’s star player, Jamal Musiala, as a potential signing to bolster their squad. This comes amid a period of disappointing form for the Blues, who have failed to secure a victory in their last four Premier League matches.

Despite a 2-1 win over Brentford on December 15th, their recent outings have seen them draw against Everton, lose to Fulham, and suffer a defeat at Ipswich Town, followed by a 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace in their first game of 2025.

Manager Enzo Maresca has made it clear that he is looking to strengthen the team in the upcoming transfer window, with Musiala emerging as a prime target.

The German international’s contract situation at Bayern Munich has raised some uncertainty, and Chelsea are said to be closely monitoring the situation.

If a resolution to Musiala’s contract remains unresolved, it could prompt several European heavyweights to enter the race for the 21-year-old.

Chelsea face stiff competition from the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Real Madrid, all of whom have shown an interest in the attacking midfielder.

Musiala is reportedly valued at £90 million, though no official price has been confirmed by Bayern Munich.

Musiala’s potential return to Stamford Bridge would be a notable twist in his career.

Having spent time in Chelsea’s academy before moving to Bayern Munich, Musiala could be set for a return to West London, where his departure is increasingly viewed as a missed opportunity.

In his time at Bayern, Musiala has developed into one of the world’s most exciting young talents.

So far this season, he has netted 14 goals and provided six assists across 22 appearances in all competitions, including an impressive nine goals and three assists in just 13 Bundesliga matches.

Musiala’s talent in front of goal would be a major asset for Chelsea, providing a much-needed boost to their attacking options.

His ability to contribute both in terms of goals and assists would see him top the club’s current tally for goal involvements, surpassing even Cole Palmer, who has recorded 19 goal involvements across all competitions.

Musiala’s addition would add depth and creativity to Chelsea’s already expansive attacking setup.

In many ways, Musiala is seen as a player who could emulate the kind of impact that Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior has had in recent seasons.

Both players are known for their dribbling skills, with Musiala averaging 5.68 progressive carries per game, while Vinícius averages 6.

Additionally, Musiala is more than just a dribbler—his ability to create chances is evident in his 3.64 key passes per game, a figure that surpasses Vinícius’s 2.6.

A comparison of their Champions League performances for the 2024/25 season shows striking similarities in their style of play, including the number of carries into the final third and their passes into the penalty box.

With both players bringing flair, creativity, and goal-scoring potential, it’s no surprise that Musiala is seen as a possible “Vinícius Júnior” for Chelsea.

Germany Star Jamal Musiala

As Chelsea look to rediscover their form and climb up the Premier League table, the pursuit of Jamal Musiala could be one of the key moves that could shape the club’s future.
