Chelsea consider Strasbourg loan moves for Mykhailo Mudryk and Dastan Satpaev

Chelsea are considering loaning Mykhailo Mudryk and teenage forward Dastan Satpaev to Strasbourg as their cooperation with the French club looks set to increase during the new season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are open to offers for Ukraine international Mudryk, who may need regular first-team football away from Stamford Bridge to rebuild his career.

Italian clubs are also understood to be among the possible destinations for the 25-year-old, but Mudryk’s preference is reportedly to remain in the Premier League if a suitable opportunity becomes available before the transfer window closes.

If no acceptable offer arrives from an English top-flight club, a move to Strasbourg could be the simplest option for BlueCo, the ownership group that controls both Chelsea and the French side.

Mudryk has not played in a competitive match since 10 November 2024, after a sample taken from the player tested positive for a prohibited substance. He has been suspended since then.

The winger, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for £85m in January 2023, was recently given a first glimpse of a return to normality. He made his first appearance since the suspension in a friendly against Juventus in Hong Kong last Wednesday, with Juventus winning 1-0.

Mudryk came on in the 82nd minute after receiving permission from the Football Association to resume playing. However, his position at Chelsea remains uncertain.

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso said: “Everything happened very quickly, so the most important thing for us is to think about him and make sure he feels that he is part of the group dynamic again and that he is part of the team.”

The Spanish manager had not initially expected to be able to use Mudryk during the current campaign.

Satpaev also linked with Strasbourg

Chelsea are also considering sending another young player to Strasbourg on loan during the next season.

The French club is regarded as the leading candidate to sign Kazakhstan forward Dastan Satpaev, who is 17 and has already made his senior international debut.

Satpaev is considered one of the most promising emerging talents in Kazakhstan. Chelsea agreed a deal for him quietly during the current summer transfer window, although the English club have not officially announced the transfer.

Kairat Almaty, for whom Satpaev played last season, confirmed that the player had moved to Chelsea.

A loan has already been discussed as a way of continuing Satpaev’s development, and Strasbourg now appears to be the most likely destination for the teenager during the forthcoming season.

The possible moves would further strengthen the relationship between Chelsea and Strasbourg, with both clubs under the ownership of BlueCo. For Mudryk, a temporary switch would offer the prospect of consistent football after a lengthy absence, while Satpaev could continue his progress in France as he adapts to life at a new club.
