“Arriving at the African Cup of Nations and learning that we were on the transfer list was a difficult situation to accept. It’s not easy to deal with the feeling that you’re not wanted,” remarked Kaboré, who now plays for Kuban Krasnodar.
Despite Burkina Faso’s achievement of finishing as runners-up in the African Cup of Nations, Kaboré felt a lack of communication regarding his status within the team.
“I simply would have appreciated being informed before departing for the tournament: ‘Charles, you no longer fit into the coach’s plans, and we’ll work on finding a solution.’ That would have been the least we could expect,” he added.
Although disappointed with the club’s handling of his situation, Kaboré harbors no ill feelings towards his former teammates. He also expressed his hope for Marseille to secure a third-place finish for Champions League qualification.
