DC Congo defender Chancel Mbemba is still not going to play for Olympique Marseille, although the club has been hit with an injury crisis in defense.
Injuries to centre-back pair Leonardo Balerdi and Luiz Felipe have come as a major blow to the French Ligue 1 outfit in their pursuit of Champions League football next season.
Currently, the only natural centre-back available for selection for under-pressure manager Roberto de Zerbi is Canadian defender Derek Cornelius.
While the manager can rely on youth players, he could also consider using Chancel Mbemba.
However, as reported by Africasoccer last week, the manager has no plans of using the DR Congo defender.
The defender is still one of the highest-paid players at Olympique Marseille but has not played for the club this season.
Plans to offload him during the transfer window failed, leaving Mbemba to stay at the club.
It is understood that Marseille will do everything to get rid of the defender in the summer window.
