The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has intensified its preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with another key step in its organisational process.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe is leading the delegation this time, with the tour commencing on Thursday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The team is scheduled to continue its assessment in Nairobi, Kenya, on Friday, and will conclude the trip in Kampala, Uganda. Central to this visit is the evaluation of critical infrastructure, including stadiums and training facilities.
The 2025 CHAN tournament scheduled for February 2025 will not only showcase Africa’s local talent but will also serve as a precursor to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
The CHAN 2025 tournament will feature 15 teams that have successfully navigated the second preliminary round of qualifiers.
The first leg of the upcoming qualifying matches is set to take place between December 20 and 22, with the return legs scheduled from December 27 to 29.
CAF sees these inspections as a pivotal step in ensuring the smooth organisation of the tournament. With the competition serving as a dress rehearsal for the 2027 CAN, expectations for high standards are paramount.
Dr. Motsepe’s tour underscores CAF’s commitment to elevating the level of African football.
