Stephen Keshi is still in contention for a new CAN – CHAN double, having previously won the African Cup of Nations last year in South Africa. The coach has now guided his team to the quarter-finals of the African Nations Championship, held on the same grounds.
In the last Group A match of the competition, the Super Eagles secured a 3-1 victory against South Africa. Ejike Uzoenyi scored twice, and Efeanyi Ede converted a penalty. Despite Bafana Bafana reducing the score with a penalty from Bernard Parker, who notched his 4th goal of the tournament, it wasn’t enough.
