Morocco secured their place in the quarter-finals of the 2014 African Nations Championship on Monday with a convincing 3-1 victory over Uganda. Abdessamad Rafik opened the scoring in the 29th minute, giving Morocco the lead at halftime. Despite a strong comeback effort from Uganda, particularly Yunus Sentamu, who equalized after the break, Morocco regained the advantage with a goal from Mouhssine Iajour. The Cranes couldn’t mount another comeback, and in stoppage time, Abdelkabir El Ouadi sealed the victory with a third goal. The final score stood at 3-1 in favor of Morocco.
In the parallel group match, Zimbabwe secured their spot in the quarter-finals by defeating Burkina Faso with a score of 1-0.
