Real Madrid secured a significant advantage in the quest for a spot in the Champions League semi-finals with a 3-0 victory over Galatasaray at Santiago-Bernabéu. Cameroonian defender Dany Nounkeu played for Galatasaray but couldn’t prevent his team from succumbing to the defeat.
Reflecting on the match in an interview with beIN Sport, Nounkeu acknowledged the difficulty of facing Real Madrid and highlighted missed opportunities for Galatasaray. He mentioned the importance of taking advantage of chances when playing against a team like Real Madrid and expressed disappointment that they couldn’t press the opponents effectively.
Nounkeu commented on the first goal, where Mesut Özil provided an easy assist, emphasizing that mistakes against top-class players like those at Real Madrid are unforgiving. Despite the challenging situation, he remained optimistic about the return leg in Istanbul, stating, “We are going to give everything in Istanbul next Tuesday, we have nothing to lose, the public will play their role. If we score early, it’s possible.”
Galatasaray faces an uphill battle in the second leg but remains determined to give their all and leverage the home advantage to try and turn the tie in their favor.
