Esperance de Tunis Announces Squad for 2015 CAF Champions League Campaign
Esperance de Tunis has officially submitted its squad to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the preliminary rounds of the 2015 CAF Champions League. As one of the continent’s top-performing clubs, Esperance, alongside seven other elite African teams, has been granted exemption from the first round of the competition.
The Tunisian side joins the likes of defending champions ES Sétif (Algeria), Coton Sport (Cameroon), AC Léopards (Congo), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), CS Sfaxien (Tunisia), and others, who will all enter the competition in the later stages following the draw held on December 22.
In total, 58 teams are expected to compete in the tournament. The first-leg fixtures of the preliminary round will take place over the weekend of February 13–15, 2015, with the return matches scheduled two weeks later.
Notably, Esperance’s submitted list does not include any of the club’s foreign players, as their status remains under review. The technical staff has opted to proceed with a selection comprised entirely of domestic talent for the time being.
