Borussia Dortmund’s European journey continues following their 2-4 victory in the first leg, despite a narrow 1-2 defeat against Zenit Saint Petersburg.
Hulk’s stunning strike from 20 meters (16th minute) and Rondon’s goal (73rd minute) secured the Russian side’s win, while Kehl temporarily equalized for Dortmund (38th minute). Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the Gabonese striker who played the full match, expressed satisfaction with the qualification despite the loss.
“We’re pleased to advance, although the result is disappointing. We secured the advantage in the first leg. It’s a positive to reach the quarter-finals,” Aubameyang told belN Sports.
Dortmund joins other qualified teams like PSG, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man Utd, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
